Almost unanimously, I've heard that there are some brushes in the set that almost no one will use, but there are a few worth having. The largest oval brush is too large for me to be able to use effectively with any product (I tried to use it with my setting powder but it was just too unwieldy for me and did not distribute powder evenly, because of the densely packed bristles), which is a complaint I heard many times across multiple videos. I still use normal brushes for highlight and setting powder. I use the second largest oval for foundation, the third largest oval for contour, and the medium linear brush for eyebrows. They don't apply streakily as some people have said in videos, but I don't use many of the brushes. I use the dupe set every day and I love them. I spent a lot of time watching reviews of the Artis brushes versus the $20-$50 dupe sets being sold on Amazon and Ebay, and the general consensus is that they are different, but with the Artis set costing $300 for 10 and the dupe set being fairly similar at around $40 average, the dupe set is serviceable. If I were doing it over again, I might just stick with the tarte brush, which I already had, instead of buying the Artis, but I got it for myself as a gift, and its a fun item to have. I am afraid to travel with mine without repacking in the original box. This makes me think any VERY dense, synthetic Kabuki style will do the same job.Īnother issue with the Artis brushes, is they feel really delicate. The Tarte is made for powder, but I basically dot my foundation on, and then use the Tarte brush like I would use the Artis. This brush is fairly wide and is very densely packed which makes it perfect for buffing out. Not only do I use this brush to press my translucent powder into the skin, I also use it to help blend harsh lines that I see after the makeup application. BUT it has the exact same effect as the Tarte Powder Player Brush - which is densely packed and soft. My fourth beauty tool I cant live without is my Tarte Powder Player bamboo pressed powder brush. Now, is the AB worth it? The Artis brush is so smooth, it applies foundation like a dream. Dupes work fine if you really want a toothbrush style foundation blender, but I don't think needed if you already have a BB. Designed to complement the smooth operator Amazonian clay tinted pressed finishing powder, this professional quality bamboo brush balances lightweight design with the ultimate in luxury. In comparison, the dupes kind of smear the foundation around before blending it in, and I find you might as well use a beauty blender. An ultra-plush, sustainably-crafted bamboo pressed powder brush. Dust the Colored Clay powder over foundation as a perfecting veil.I have an Artis brush (Oval 7) and some of the dupes. Sweep onto skin at the center of the face and blend outward.
